PROMASTER’s altimeter measures altitudes from -300 meters to 10,000 meters—higher than any mountain on Earth! Once activated, it tracks altitude continuously for five minutes and then provides automatic updates every three minutes for the next 12 hours, allowing climbers to concentrate on their ascent without manual adjustments. The altimeter displays information in an analogue format, so climbers can easily check altitude and orientation without switching away from the time display. This design ensures seamless access to both time and altitude data, enhancing convenience and focus during challenging climbs.

KEEPING THE HANDS IN POSITION

This feature activates if the hands of the watch deviate from the correct time, regularly checking their position and automatically resetting them if an error is detected. When combined with the shock counteraction function, it ensures the watch remains accurate even in environments prone to shocks and bumps. This dual functionality helps maintain precise timekeeping by addressing any discrepancies caused by physical impacts or disturbances.

NO NEED TO REPLACE BATTERIES

Most PROMASTER watches use Eco-Drive, CITIZEN’s proprietary light-powered technology, which harnesses any light source to generate energy. Eco-Drive operates even in dim conditions and stores excess power in a rechargeable cell. With a full charge, the watch can run for up to six months in total darkness, eliminating the need for battery replacements or frequent recharging. We have optimized Eco-Drive’s energy efficiency to support advanced functions like the depth meter and altimeter alongside accurate timekeeping. This ongoing evolution of Eco-Drive continues to enhance PROMASTER's capabilities, offering innovative solutions and expanded possibilities.

ECO-DRIVE AND AN ALTIMETER AND A DEPTH METER?

Eco-Drive employs an ultra-low-power microcomputer to manage the depth meter and altimeter. When activated, the microcomputer processes sensor data, converts it into depth or altitude readings, and adjusts the hands to display the information. It also monitors the watch’s battery voltage, energy generation, and temperature. Despite using a low-clock-speed CPU, the watch efficiently handles multiple tasks simultaneously due to CITIZEN’s advanced expertise in minimizing Eco-Drive’s power consumption. This innovation ensures that sophisticated features operate seamlessly while maintaining excellent energy efficiency.

KEEPING THE HANDS IN POSITION

In environments full of obstacles—whether at sea, on land, or in the sky—there's a risk of accidentally bumping your PROMASTER and misaligning the hands. To tackle this, CITIZEN developed a proprietary shock counteraction function. When the watch detects a shock or strong vibration, an electrical signal quickly engages the motor to momentarily lock the rotor, preventing the hands from shifting. This process occurs in just one-thousandth of a second, ensuring that any deviation is corrected almost instantaneously, allowing the watch to maintain accurate timekeeping before you even notice the impact.

KEEPS RUNNING EVEN ON WIND-RAVAGED MOUNTAINTOPS

At the summit of a mountain, climbers face extreme cold and intense wind, yet they still need reliable time and altitude information. To ensure PROMASTER’s performance in such conditions, we simulated ultra-cold environments for rigorous testing. Our tests confirmed that the watch, including its altimeter and compass, functions flawlessly even at temperatures as low as -20°C. PROMASTER is designed to withstand harsh, freezing conditions, making it a dependable choice for professional climbers and adventurers in severe cold regions.
